This is a picture of my brother from Christmas. Some say I look just like him, but we don’t agree. I thought it was just a really nice photo of him. Also, this was the first opportunity for me to get out and really try out the new 580EX II flash that I just bought. This shot was in the basement of my uncles house. While there are fluorescent lights, there is not a great amount of light. That new flash came in very handy!

Last night after the photo shoot, and since I had my stuff all set up, I decided to play a little with light and see what I get. We have this snowman decoration that is just about as tall as my daughter and is able to stand and sit on it’s own. I posed him and then played with the lighting to learn more about it. It was kind of fun seeing the how different lighting had an effect on him. This is one of my favorites, and I shot all these with my new 24-70 F2.8L lens, so it was a good test of that as well.

I got to photograph a great family tonight. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures for the session. They are such a cute couple. The girl is their daughter and the boy is their nephew. This was a fun time and a great family.

Here is the first quick sample from me just playing around with the new lens. I thought is was a pretty nice shot actually. Shows me how dirty my keyboard is…time to get out the canned air!

I just got my new lens from Amazon. It is the Canon EF 24-70mm F2.8L USM. I bought this lens to replace the 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 lens I sold to my father-in-law. I also now have the 24-200mm range covered. All with “L” glass, and all with fast F2.8 glass. This will be important for shooting weddings as well as portrait work. I am really excited to start shooting with the lens. I will post samples when I can get shooting.

Just wanted to show you what I have been working on. I call it “Barn In The Weeds”. It is a picture I took of a small barn on my wife’s Uncle’s land. It is kind of a cool little red barn but the paint peeling away gave it a great texture for black and white. This is actually the same red barn (and the same picture) that is in the slide show on the home page of www.adammarin.com. I will be selling prints of this photo. Meet Alice! She is my latest subject. Alice needed a portrait for her recent anniversary with her company and I got to do it. I think the portrait turned out well and she will be happy with the results!
