This is Sabrina. She was really fun to work with, and I really love this shot. I purposely blew out the background much higher than need be, so that I could get that highlight on her face, and kind of blow out her hair a little bit. I used my ring light as my main light for this one. It is by far, one of my favorite shots of the session. We did an indoor session of about an hour, and then did about 2.5 hours of on-location outdoor shots. It was a lot of fun, and I hope she had fun too!

I always love photographing newborns. You never really know how the session is going to go. You can have a plan laid out, but they can derail it quick! that is why I always allow extra time for newborns. This adorable little girl did not want to go to sleep for us at first. We were finally able to get her calmed down enough at least to get the images I wanted and then she could be awake if she wanted to. This image is one of my favorites, because it is a setup I never tried before, and I think it turned out pretty good.

Lori is an amazing mother to our two kids and has been super supportive as I venture on this photographic journey, as well as trying to get my business up and running. She has gone on photo shoots with me and contributes so much, not just to that, but to making me and the kids very happy every single day. She has a very bubbly personality that makes everyone like her instantly and thatI aspire to be more like. Although I may not say it everyday, I love her with all my heart, and she is the reason I try so hard to succeed at everything I do. Thank you to her for everything she does, and I love you! Happy mothers day to all the other mothers out there as well!

Kelly has been with her company for 10 years, and every five years they have you get a portrait done. I think this is a really great idea, because, if nothing else, it makes you get a portrait done. It is important to have pictures done so that you can look back on your life and remember how great your life was. Too many people don’t get portraits done.

Mary Jo earned a promotion at work, and her employer publishes a picture of each person when they have milestones like a promotion or anniversary. It is kind of cool if you think about it, because they pay for you to have a nice image made, and if you wanted copies, you don’t have to pay the session fee. Congratulations Mary Jo!

Today I read page 104 in the 5D Mark II manual.

She loves having her picture taken, as she has been my model and subject for her whole life! She is such a good girl and is really interested in helping dad out with my photography. She even has her own kids tough Vtech camera. She fills the memory card on that thing all the time! I love hanging out with her and she is a great little model! I am lucky to have her in every way!

Tomorrow I have to do a business portrait session, and I want to do a different lighting setup than I usually do, so tonight I set up my lights and did some portraits of my daughters Dora doll. I think I got my lighting dialed in to where I want it. Unfortunately, when I do these late night sessions, I have to rely on toys, rather than say my wife, but I think this works out pretty well. At least I am practicing and trying something new.

Today I read page 90 in the Canon 40D manual.
