In the quest to replace all artwork in my home with images that I have created, I talked my wife into getting rid of a picture in our kitchen. She wanted it replaced with something that had a red/burgundy theme. Immediately what comes to mind is red wine, so we worked together to come up with this still life image. We purchased the items today, and then I spent quite a while shooting it. I tried it on a black background, and this white one. I tried all kinds of combinations, but in the end, this is the one that fit the image of what she wanted, so this is my choice for today’s picture and also the image I will be getting printed for her for our kitchen.

Today I photographed my son’s new favorite toy that also happens to be an old favorite of my daughter. They both love this little push car. It plays music and makes sounds. It is a pretty fun little toy for kids. I photographed it using my two large softboxes, and then processed it in Lightroom 3 Beta 2, Photoshop CS4, and onOne’s Photo Tools 2.5. It is a fun shot that my kids will like when they are older I am sure!

Today I read page 64 in Canon 40D manual,

Shed in the Weeds

Shed in the Weeds

A friend of mine asked me to take this print and do a special selective color to only show the red of the barn. Normally, this is pretty easy to do, but the problem with this picture is all the grass and old tools on the shed. Every blade of grass that was on the barn needed to be colored to turn it back to gray scale in photoshop. This whole process took me about 4 hours, and while it was a bit labor intensive, I think it looks great! Also, since I have now done the work I will be selling this as a print probably for people to purchase. If you are interested, email me: adam at adammarin dot com for more information.
